ExplainerSources give different ranges.
The same routine as any retainer, the AAO says: a lukewarm rinse, a daily brush with a dedicated toothbrush and dish soap, and a weekly soak. Retainer Brite says not to soak wire appliances longer than 15 minutes, and KidsHealth says not to bend the wires, noting that flipping the retainer around in your mouth could bend them.
The AAO says to brush and floss between the wire and the teeth every day; floss threaders, interdental brushes or a water flosser help reach under the wire. A loose or broken wire: call your orthodontist.
It varies by type, wear and care, and sources give different ranges. The AAO says to stop wearing a retainer with cracks or loose wires, and to contact your orthodontist about any visible damage, especially if the fit feels off.
